Vuelo inaugural del avión de combate KAAN

El 20 de febrero de 2024, el avión de combate nacional TAI TF Kaan (MMU - Milli Muharip Uçak) completó su vuelo inaugural, que duró 11 minutos. El nuevo caza, anteriormente conocido como TF-X, estaba acompañado por un F-16D Fighting Falcon de la Fuerza Aérea Turca (TurAF)

Lastima que no se atrevan de momento con una versión STOVL, algo así como el "low cost" (muy barata no creo que saliera) del F-35 B, aunque sea en principio solamente para el buque 'Anadolu' (el L-61 al estilo turco). Supongo que con bastante ayuda tecnológica extranjera, los 'otomanos' podrían atreverse a diseñarla y producirla.

Esa fecha ha sido revisada varias veces, primero era 2025-2026, y luego finales de 2023. En cualquier caso, es todo un logro para Turquía.

Ukraine appears likely to have a F-16 capability by this summer, according to governments involved in providing fighters
Denmark is poised to hand over an undisclosed number of F-16s to Ukraine in the summer, as training for both pilots and ground crew continue, according the Danish defence ministry and a statement from the Air Force Capability Coalition (AFCC), which comprises Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway and the USA.

“It is difficult to set a fixed timetable for the donation of F-16 fighter jets, because there are several conditions that must be met in order for Ukraine to use the donated aircraft,” says Danish defence minister Troels Lund Poulsen. “But I have informed the conciliation circle that we are now working on getting it into a higher unity this summer, when we expect to be able to hand over the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, if the preparations proceed as planned.”

At the Paris air show last year, TAI chief executive Temel Kotil said that by 2028 the company aims to deliver 20 Kaan fighters to the Turkish air force in an initial Block 10 configuration. As the programme matures, subsequent deliveries will be in a new Block 20 standard.
The Kaan is powered by a pair of GE F110 engines, but an indigenous powerplant is in development.

Beyond Turkey, Azerbaijan signalled interest in the fighter with a 2023 protocol to explore participation in the project.
In August 2023, Turkish defence minister Yasar Guler tweeted that Pakistan was also interested in Kaan, but this may have been contradicted in January, when Pakistan air force chief Zaheer Sidhu suggested that preparations have been underway to obtain the Shenyang FC-31/J-31 fighter from China.

No hay detalles del contrato, pero el coste es de 1.600 millones de $. Según la publicación, el JF-17 sustituirá a los MiG-29 y Su-25
